We took off from San Luis Obispo today for the rest of the drive to San Francisco. Along the way we say quite a change in the vegetation. This reached from green vines and plantations to mines and oil drilling through to stark arid landscapes.
We stopped at Monterey Bay for lunch at a Mexican restaurant. We are getting to realise that due to a scarcity of public transport, Americans drive everywhere and hence parking is always a nightmare. While I drove around trying to find a place to park, Bron took the little kids to the beach to stretch their legs.

We didn’t end up getting up San Francisco till well after 5 and we checked in and got settled. We were surprised with the number of self driving Waymo cars on the street, picking passengers up and dropping them off while navigating traffic.
