Goodbye Vancouver

And just like that it’s the final day of our holidays. The morning was spent making sure everything was packed across both the rooms. One of the advantages in the US is that normal checkout at hotels is quite late in the morning, and in this case we didn’t need to leave till nearly 11. We decided to spend the day at the Vancouver Aquarium as it had been recommended by a few of the locals.

The aquarium was a 40 minute walk from our hotel and is located in Stanley Park. Crossing the streets in Canada is quite different in that not every intersection has pedestrian crossing lights. However it seems cars are a lot more accepting of pedestrians walking across. We arrived in time for lunch and had a quick bite at the cafe before venturing into the aquarium. The Aquarium had an activity for the kids where they needed to find different exhibits and get a “passport” stamped – which kept them engaged and entertained for the duration of the trip.

We were also lucky to catch a couple of talks during our visit. We got to hear a talk on Sea Otters while sitting directly in front of their exhibit. We then walked over the sea lion exhibit to watch them get fed.

Thomas was lucky enough to be standing right next to one of the trainers and got to feed the sea lions as well. After the talks we went and watched a 4D documentary on turtles. We wandered around the aquarium for the rest of the afternoon watching jellyfish, sharks and numerous frogs.
