Final Food Tour

We had one last food tour organised for Vancouver which was going to be focussed on the Asian food in the city. It wasn’t an early start so the kids had an opportunity to do their journals after breakfast.

As part of the tour we went to 4 different restaurants and sampled different Asian foods. We started at a Chinese “fine dining” restaurant and sampled some dumplings. We had Emily’s favourite – Steamed pork buns – as well as Jasmine tea which was better than any we have had before. From there we went to a Korean restaurant for an expansive lunch including Pork Bugolgi and about 6 different types of accompaniments. The food was a bit spicy for the kids, but had quite unique tastes.

For dessert we stopped by a Japanese store and had Yuzu flavoured soft serve ice cream which was perfectly timed on a hot afternoon. Our final stop was in a bubble tea shop where we had a mango drink. I have never had bubble tea before and it’s got something I would necessarily order, but I was pleasantly surprised by how refreshing it was.

At the end of the tour we decided to go back to Granville Markets to check out the stores that we missed last time. There was a whole section dedicated to kids shops which even had a special kids entrance. Emily was impressed with a Taylor Swift store which had a lot of her memorabilia. For dessert we got a selection of flavours from Lee’s Doughnuts and shared them amongst ourselves while watching a busker perform.

Back at the hotel Bron took the little ones to the pool while I went with the boys to a local grocery store. We wanted to get Coffee Crisp which, apparently, is a quintessential Canadian chocolate bar. We went to a local restaurant for dinner and then for dessert we visited Thierry, which is a famous chocolatier. They had a display case full of different types of macaroons and a range of desserts as well.
