I had bought tickets for a half day San Francisco group tour which departed from Fishermans Wharf, quite close to our hotel. The tour took us to some of the notable landmarks, however it was incredibly foggy today which limited our views.

We started with a visit to the Palace of Fine Arts which was only built a 100 years ago but made to look like ancient Roman ruins. We walked around the structures and then headed to the California Academy of Sciences via Lands End. The academy of sciences is located with the Botanical garden and is a huge park right in the middle of the city. There is also an open air theatre with specific trees to assist with acoustics.

We tried a few different spots to get a good view of the Golden Gate Bridge, however due to the heavy fog we couldn’t see a thing.

For lunch we visited Boudins which is a San Francisco institution and makes bread shaped as different animals. Thomas and Emily decided to have a baby turtle with their soup. After lunch we went on a Bay Cruise up under and around the Golden Gate Bridge. The fog had lifted slightly but still covered the top of the bridge. It was very cold and icy heading out to the bridge and it was fortunate Bron had packed wind breakers for everyone.

We stopped by Ghirardelli on the way back to the hotel to get some more chocolates and spent the afternoon in the gaming room. An intense game of Scrabble ensued which ended in a dead heat between Ben and Matthew. Thomas on the other hand built complex structures using stirrers.

For dinner we met with Kiran and his kids at a local Korean restaurant. Unfortunately his wife was working and couldn’t join us, but it was great to catch up with him after almost 5 years. It took a while for the kids to break the ice but then they enjoyed a game of Bananagram.
