A Day of Travelling

It was an early start at the hotel in Sydney where we were down at the breakfast buffet by 6 in the morning. Everyone seems to have slept quite well and were super-excited for the day ahead. The hotel has the most impressive Nespresso machine with multiple levers and milk frothers. Emily and Thomas had a successful interaction with the pancake maker (for once) and it was the highlight of their breakfast.

After a quick shuttle ride to the airport we were checked in and through security in a flash. We are back at the Air NZ lounge and it brought back memories of the day we spent, what felt like, a week in there. The kids did their journal and spent time in the kids play area. Thomas’ highlight was using the digital terminal to order us all coffees and hot chocolates.

The rest of the day was pretty much spent in different planes. After the, nearly, 13 hour flight to New Delhi, we spent a few hours in transit, and then boarded the flight to Kolkata. New Delhi airport was really easy to get around, well signposted and spacious. Immigration and security hardly took any time at all. However, I had forgotten that men and women get separated in the security lanes, so Emily had to go off by herself and meet us on the other side.

We had figured out a pretty good system for managing the luggage with Matthew and Emily pushing trolleys while Thomas sat on the suitcases. It was the easiest and most streamlined way to get places.
