#Pearl Harbour

We had booked a whole day tour of Pearl Harbour and USS Missouri today. It was a fascinating experience. Whole I knew a little bit about the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour in WWII, I had no idea how large the attack was and how much it impacted the US. It was amazing planning by the Japanese army general to pull off such a massive attack with such precision. It took over a year to plan and it was all over in 2 hours with minimal Japanese casualties.

USS Missouri is significant as it’s on its deck that Japan finally signed it’s surrender. We were able to walk through the ship and it’s size and scale is quite phenomenal. We also visited the Pearl Harbour memorial which is perched on top of the sink USS Arizona.

The tour took most of the day and it was incredibly hot and humid. Most of the activities were outdoors and by the time we boarded the botys home everyone feel asleep.

For dinner we went to a restaurant called Bills which is run by an Australian chef called Bill Grainger. One of the great things on America is how family and kid friendly all restaurants are. They all have a kids menu and selection of God and drinks suitable for the little ones. Even a place like Bills had a high chair. Both the boys decided to be adventurous and order from the adults menu, which unfortunately didn’t work out too well. The meals were all a bit too spicy for them, and even with some whipped yoghurt they struggled. I had a Nasi Goreng with soft shell crabs and it was really delicious.
