The Magnificient Landscape of Nawiliwili

#The Magnificient Landscape of Nawiliwili

We docked in Nawiliwili today which is on the island of Kauai and is the left most major island in Hawaii. We had organised a private tour to take us around the island. Unfortunately there have been some pretty bad storms over the past few days and the northern West of the island could not be accessed. Instead we went along the entire West coast.

We stopped at a few waterfalls along the way. One of the unique things on Hawaii is that the are hardly any rivers. All the water is supplied by rains which then prepares through the lava rocks and ends up back in the ocean. This results in waterfalls and waterways that are quite varied in their intensity based on the last rain. Given it has rained quite a lot over the past few days the waterfalls were ferocious.

We stopped at a couple of beaches and they were truly magnificient. The water was crystal clear with beautiful waves. At one of the beaches the kids couldn’t help themselves and stripped down and jumped in. The water was apparently balmy and comfortable.

For lunch we stopped at a local cafe where the food was good, meals huge and service slow. Back on ship Emily and Thomas had a sleep while the boys watched a movie in the room. The kids club had a couple of activities this afternoon and Ben went to have dinner with them and then onto a pool party. Matthew on the other hand got to play some arcade games after dinner.
