Back to Honolulu

#Back to Honolulu

After having spent a week in the Big Island we returned to Honolulu today to join the cruise tomorrow. Since we had done most of the packing the night before it was a bit of a relaxed start for us. We checked out around 11 and then drove down to the airport for our flight at 2.

Kona airport is entirely in the open with very minimal rig covering. It was very weird checking in you baggage and then going through security in such an open area. The flight was short and eventful however Thomas feel asleep only near the end.

On arrival our transfer want there waiting for us. After a few phone calls it transpired that they had the wrong flight number and organised a couple of taxis to get us to the hotel.

We checked in to the Modern in Honolulu which looks to be fantastic boutique hotel and probably one of the more upmarket hotels in the US, however it is not really a family friendly hotel. After wrangling with reception and housekeeping we were finally able to get enough needs and cots set up the accommodate all of us.

Brons dad had flown in earlier today and we went for a walk to the nearest shopping centre. It hartebeest to be the largest open air shopping centre in the United States. The kids found the Microsoft Store and played XBox for a while. For dinner we went to Bubba Gump a. We have previously visited this chain in New York and Hong Kong and the kids love the food and atmosphere, so it was an easy choice.
