#And We’ve Stopped

They say travelling tesrs your patience and your ability to deal with surprise, while having no control over any of it. We got to experience it first hand today. On arrival into Sydney we found out that our flight to Auckland had been delayed by 3 hours due to fog in Auckland. A couple of hours later they cancelled the flight. This became quite an issue as they tried to find us a replacement flight, not just to Auckland but onward to Honolulu. After going back and forth for a few hours we ended up having to stay a night in Sydney and then flying to Auckland tomorrow and then connecting on a Hawaiian Airlines flight to Honolulu. Unfortunately it appears we will be spread out across the plane so it will be quite a logistical challenge.

After this was all finalised we had to exit the airport back through immigration, collect our bags and take a taxi to the hotel the airline had organised. It was a pretty depressing taxi ride as we were all tired and disappointed that we weren’t heading to Hawaii yet.

Once we arrive at the hotel the dramas contributed. The airline had booked is only 2 rooms which comfortably accommodated 4, but was too small for all 6 of us. After a lot of discussions and negotiations we booked a third room, all on the same floor, but not interconnecting.

Atleast we’ll have a good night sleep and we can start again tomorrow.
