The Holidays Begin

It is always a rush to get out of the house at the start of the holidays. There are just so many little things to do, clean, store and organise. Our flight wasn’t till 11.30 so it gave us time to get everything sorted. In spite of all the planning we forgot Matthew’s frequent flyer card and needed to return home to get it. Luckily we were only just down the road when we realised.

The flight was uneventfu,l however Qantas is now progressively getting rid of iPad’s and entertainment screens from most of their domestic flights. They rely on people to use the Qantas app on their phones but that makes it hard for the kids. Emily sat with Bron and read books and did puzzles for the whole flight. She had also been given a special Joey meal pack with biscuits, sandwich and sultanas which she loved.

Once in Brisbane we checked into our hotel which is in the tallest building in the city and our rooms are on level 71. We decided to go for a walk and get some afternoon tea. We found a gourmet doughnut shop and each child got to pick a flavour. We then shared all doughnuts between all of us.

I ducked into the shops to grab some breakfast cereal and milk while the kids watched a couple of buskers. One was a magician while the other was levitating. On the walk back we saw some interesting kangaroo art work on the pavement. All three of them climbed all over the roos.

For dinner we went to a Japanese restaurant nearby and got a collective of sushi, sashimi, bento and gyozas for all to share. Matthew and Emily got into bed at 8 and were far asleep in under 2 minutes.
