A Train Ride Through 3 Countries

One of the most fascinating things in Europe is how you can travel for only a few hours and go across countries, and all without any passport or visa check. We boarded our train in Prague at midday and will be in Budapest by 6 having traveled through Slovakia.

The boarding of the train was a bit chaotic to say the least. We arrived at the station with enough time however they don’t seem to announce the platform till 10 minutes before departure. So we planted ourselves under an information board with all our luggage and counted down the minutes. I did a couple of reconnaissance trips to get a feel for distance to the various platforms and the ideal route. When they did announce the platform it was a mad rush to the platform and given it was an international trip, everyone had large pieces of luggage. It reminded me of the intra-city train in Ultadanga where people wait on the overpass to see which platform the train arrives on.

Once we got to the platform we realised that the escalator was out of order so we had to carry all our luggage up the stairs. Luckily Ben had figured out that we would be in the last carriage which coincidentally stopped closest to us.
