New Years Eve

Broken Clouds, -4°C

Václavské náměstí 56

The official fireworks and celebrations for the New Year happen on the 1st of January in Prague. As there are no regulations on the purchase and use of fireworks, there were unofficial fireworks and noise makers all over town.

I had booked a train restaurant called Vytopnia for dinner after having read a number of great reviews online. It didn’t disappoint. We took an Uber to the restaurant but we had to be dropped off a couple of blocks away as a number of the streets were closed off due to the New Years revellers.

The restaurant has a train track running across the restaurant to every table. Any drinks that are ordered are delivered by train which stops at your table. The kids were enthralled. Ben took numerous videos of the trains going past while Matthew was thinking of a more complex track implementation so the food could be automatically placed in front of you.

The food in itself was adequate but the desserts were awesome. The kids ice cream came with chocolate and gummy bears and were larger than their faces.

After dinner we decided to walk back and we stopped through a Christmas market along the way. It only took us 20 mins back to the hotel but the temperature has dropped to -6 and we were all freezing.
