What a Show

We packed up and left Kakslautanen today. It was a real shame that it snowed all night and we weren’t able to see any more of the Northern Lights as there seemed to be quite a bit of auroral activity. The igloos had quite an interesting design and no matter how much it snowed over night the snow would just slide off.

We had a bus take us to Ivalo airport from the resort and we sat next to a couple from Kentucky. They are on their way to London to spend a couple of days with their daughter before heading home.

At the airport we realised that our beloved orange suitcase had cracked. We used the duct tape for some quick fixing and then were ready to check-in. The woman at the counter wouldn’t let us to take to pram into the aircraft and an argument ensued. Finally she relented when i asked to speak to her supervisor.

We had two legs to our flight, one to Helsinki on Finnair and then onto Prague on Czech Airlines. On arrival into Helsinki we realised that our onward flight had been delayed by an hour. We are booked to watch a show tonight and it was already going to be tight, but with an hours delay it will be near impossible.

The flight took off an hour late but the pilot was able to make up time on route and we were only 30 minutes late overall.

Our driver was waiting for us and we got to the hotel by 7.30 and we just dumped our bags and rushed off to the theatre. We arrived with only 15 minutes to spare and it was well worth the rush. The show was fantastic and nothing like anything we had ever seen before. It was called Black Light theatre and the dancers all wore fluorescent clothing and it looked surreal. The kids loved the dancers but were ecstatic every time the comic relief came on. We had Ben and Matthew literally rolling in the aisles.

After the show we headed back to our hotel for a late dessert. It was only 10.30 at night but with the change in time zones we were all pretty tired. Matthew summed it up perfectly by falling asleep while waiting for his ice cream to arrive.
