The Royal Armoury
We had a bit of a quiet day in Stockholm today. The sun was out and it was a positively hot 2 degrees. We visited the Christmas markets nearest to our hotel and they were bustling with visitors… guessing it included locals as well as it was a Sunday. Some of the stalls had really interesting and intricate decorations for the Christmas tree.
After lunch back in the hotel we headed out to the Royal Armoury, which is located under the Royal Palace. It was a mere 5 minute walk from our hotel and it was a fantastic display. They had armours and outfits dating back 500 years, including bloody clothes that a king wrote when he was injured in battle. They also had on display clothes that the royal kids wore and the toys they played with a couple of centuries ago.
To entertain the kids they had a Mouse Trail. In some of the exhibits they had a little mouse at the bottom and this corresponded with an activity for the kids. It told a special story and also asked the kids to look for clues. It was a great way to keep them entertained.
They also had a kids play area where you could dress up as royalty. Emily dressed as the queen while Ben and Matthew were her guards.
