A very grand affair
We arrived into Oslo in the early afternoon and were met by our driver to get us to our hotel. We leave all the hotel recommendations to Kelly, our travel agent, and this current selection has us floored. We are staying in a huge room/suite and an adjoining room overlooking the main square at The Grand Hotel. The hotel even has a dedicated webpage for our specific room http://www.grand.no/the-bohem-suite-,rooms_viewItem_121-en.html. Our rooms are on the top floor in the corner with the 3 sets of windows on either side.

The kids were enthralled and spent the first 15 mins running around exploring all the different rooms and amenities. Ben reckons the walk in robe is bigger than his room at home. This would have to be the most impressive suite we have ever stayed in, even better than the one in Dubai last year.

After a quick change we headed out to the Christmas markets across the road. The days are getting shorter and by 4 the sun had well and truly set and the temperature just dropped. We only spent a hour at the markets and it was -3 by the time we came back to the hotel.

The kids all had a hot bath and we out done ice ubes out on the balcony to see if it melts overnight. We then headed out to an Italian restaurant for dinner that was recommended by the concierge. We said that we wanted something not too flash, but not a chain either. We ended up at a restaurant that,I guess, people staying at the Grand don’t consider flash, but was not quite a place we normally frequent with 4 little kids. The food was excellent and we stopped by the markets for some chocolate balls on the way back.

By 9pm the temperature has dropped to -7. It’s going to be a cold few days in Oslo.
