Tour of Aarhus

Tour of Aarhus
Our guide met us at 10 this morning for a walking tour of Aarhus. It definitely wasn’t the best day for a walking tour as it drizzled all day and it was freezing worth the maximum for the day being 2 degrees.

We started with a walk through the new art house which had some amazing huge displays in the main foyer. From there we went to see some really old cathedrals. The first was built in the late 10 th century and has been built on and expanded since then. We also visited the crypt and saw an original Viking interpretation on Jesus Christ. We also visited the longest cathedral in Scandinavia which had an incredible organand some fascinating murals.

The guide, Katherine, then took us to the new Aarhus library which was quite an experience. For starters they have an automatic parking station for cars, where you pull up and leave your car and it automatically gets stored in the underground parking lot. The library in itself was huge and was packed full of people of all ages. They had a kid area with board games, blocks and even some interactive games. Emily found a little ride on car that she drove around in.

By now the rain was falling quite heavily so we took a taxi to the Old Town. Interesting story I that the Old Town is made up of buildings that span the past few centuries, and they physically moved these buildings brick by brick. Most of the buildings were museums from their particular era, while some also had Christmas themed activities.

Asher a whole day of walking we headed back you the hotel. By now everyone was cold and wet and couldn’t wait to get into a hot bath.
